JoAnne Harris scores official selection in Long Island International Film Expo, “Time Travel Boy”

Congratulations to 4EM composer JoAnne Harris who scored the short film “Time Travel Boy“. The film was accepted into this summer’s Long Island International Film Expo, where it will make its debut on July 18th.

But wait, there’s more!

JoAnne was also accepted to participate in this years ASCAP/NYU film scoring workshop which takes place later this month.

Many congratulations JoAnne, we look forward to the next big thing!

Johnny Baseball at The Village Theatre Festival of New Musicals

We are excited to announce that “Johnny Baseball” (music by 4EM head composer and founder Rob Reale) will be read at “Village Theatre Festival of New Musicals” in Issaquah, Washington this coming August.

Producers are currently planning additional readings, workshops, and productions en route to a New York production in 2013 or early 2014.

Congratulations to Rob, Willie Reale (lyrics), and Richard Dresser (book)!

The film will be released nationwide on May 11th.

4EM Head Composer Rob Reale to Moderate Panel on Film Score Workflow

Rob Reale, head composer and founder of 4 Elements Music, will be moderating a panel this evening on film score workflow optimization. The panelists are David Wolfert, a Grammy and Emmy nominated composer and songwriter, and technology guru (slash 4EM composer!) Shane Koss, whose Alto Music showroom is frequented by composers and engineers alike. David and Shane will be discussing several current studio software favorites (including Kontakt, Vienna Instruments Library, Logic and ProTools), plug-in tips and tricks, and how to work quickly while staying light on CPU.

The panel is presented by the New York branch of the Society of Composers and Lyricists. For SCL members the panel is free, non-members $25 and students $10. 4EM Composer Chris Hajian Scores “Unraveled”

Congratulations to 4EM composer Chris Hajian, who recently scored the feature length documentary Unraveled. The film presents an intimate portrait of Marc Dreier, a Manhattan lawyer awaiting sentencing (and potential life imprisonment) for the embezzlement of hundreds of millions from hedge funds and investors. Spurred by unchecked narcissism and greed, Marc Dreier’s criminal history is just one of many among the financial elite of New York City.

The film is showing at the Village East Cinema until the end of next week, and there will be Q&As with the film’s producer after the 7:40 screening on Friday, and the 5:20 screening on Saturday/Sunday.

4EM Composer Michael Benoit To Premiere “Supernova”

A warm congratulations to 4EM composer Michael Benoit, who has recently completed a new composition for concert band called “Supernova”. It was written for the Beverly, MA High School Concert Band, and is dedicated to the band’s director, Ray Novack, who is retiring this year. The piece will be premiered in May at the band’s Spring concert, but it will also be performed when the band travels to Philadelphia to compete with other high school bands in the Northeast.

4 EM Composer Lauren Buchter Scores Short Film Selected For NewFilmmakers NY Film Festival

Lauren Buchter recently composed the score for “The Apartment“, a short film directed by Melanie Travis. We are pleased to announce that the film as been chosen as an official selection in the NewFilmmakers New York Film Festival, and it was also recently featured on Indiewire.

The film screening will be held on Wednesday April 4 at 6 PM, at the Anthology Film Archives, 32 2nd Avenue (at 2nd Street). Come out and show your support!

But that’s not all!

Lauren also recently provided an original score for “Unrestrained”, a new modern dance work by choreographer Mikhail Ilyin, which received it’s premiere in September, 2011 by The American Ballet Theatre. Information about upcoming performances of the piece can be found here on Lauren’s website.
